These are the two main languages used to write about Islamic culture.
As these are only spoken within Muslim cultures, these writings are inaccessible to those who are not Muslim.

Many people outside of Muslim cultures appreciate and respect the contributions that previous generations have made towards modern societies- even if they did not fully understand them at first.
There are plenty of examples of how previous cultural traditions have shaped today’s society, such as through music, literature or social norms.
By appreciating how previous generations have shaped today’s culture, people can gain a better understanding of those past cultures and communities without having to understand every word Arabic historians wrote about them first.
How can past cultural traditions be revitalized if their history is forgotten? One way to do this is through bringing underrepresented historical figures to light through creative art forms such as theatre or novels.
Popular theatre shows such as ‘MacBeth’ or ‘Othello’ highlight prominent historical figures from different cultural backgrounds while simultaneously transforming them into fictional characters- allowing audiences to project their own ideas onto them and stretch their histories beyond what we know historically.
Alternatively, historical novels set within different cultural backdrops can help audiences gain an understanding of prominent historical figures from different cultures while preserving the fictional elements involved in these stories.
By transforming historical figures into fictional characters, audiences can project their ideas onto them without limiting their knowledge of these people’s actual histories or culture backgrounds.
Islam is the predominant religion in Africa and parts of Asia, and it has a strong presence worldwide.
Islam is based on the teachings of the Quran and the life of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.
